  • Nominate Student Leaders for Community Standards

    The Office of Community Standards (OCS) is seeking your support in identifying outstanding students for key volunteer roles: Academic Integrity Hearing Board Member, Probation Review Committee Member,  and Student Conduct Ambassador. Your insight into students' character, leadership potential, and commitment to the community is invaluable in helping us find the right candidates. 

      

    Volunteer Roles: 

    • Academic Integrity Hearing Board:  This panel plays a crucial role in upholding academic standards. Nominated students will work alongside faculty members to assess allegations of academic misconduct, weigh evidence, and determine appropriate outcomes. 

    • Probation Review Committee:  This committee reviews requests from students seeking to lift their University Probation status after six months. Students on this board will carefully evaluate each case and contribute to decisions that impact their peers' good standing. 

    • Student Conduct Ambassador: Ambassadors act as liaisons between OCS and the student body, providing guidance to peers navigating the conduct process and conducting educational outreach. Ideal candidates are those who can effectively communicate and support their fellow students. 

     

    Why Nominate a Student?  

    By nominating a student, you’re not only recognizing their potential but also providing them with an opportunity to: 

    • Develop Leadership Skills: Engage in meaningful roles that enhance their leadership and decision-making abilities. 

    • Contribute to the University Community: Play an active role in maintaining academic and behavioral standards that benefit the entire community. 

    • Build Professional Relationships: Collaborate with faculty, staff, and peers, fostering a network that will support their growth. 

    • Enhance Critical Skills: From active listening and analytic reasoning to written and verbal communication, these roles help students refine essential skills. 

     

    Time Commitment for Students: 

    •  A 20-minute interview with OCS staff. 

    • Mandatory training (2 hours). 

    • Flexible weekly involvement for Academic Integrity Panelists and Probation Review Committee members, depending on cases. 

    • A consistent 2-hour weekly commitment for Student Conduct Ambassadors. 

     

    Nominate a Student: 

    If you know a student who would excel in one of these roles, submit a nomination form by September 9, 2024. Interviews will take place the week of September 16, with placements in one or more of their interest areas to follow.
