    The National Institute for Undersea Vehicle Technology (NIUVT) at the University of Connecticut seeks qualified applicants for an Administrative Program Support 1 position. NIUVT is a dynamic work environment, with this position housed in the Innovation Partnership Building (IPB) on the Storrs campus and interacting with students and faculty in various Schools and Departments throughout UConn’s College of Engineering. Under the direction of the UConn Director of NIUVT, this position provides support in expanding and maintaining NIUVT’s research efforts. This position provides administrative support to the NIUVT Research Coordinator to facilitate collaboration with our academic, industry, and government partners, and to minimize the risk associated with conducting research. The successful candidate will possess the skills to effectively communicate the prescribed requirements and practices to students, faculty, and stakeholders. This position works on-site at the Storrs campus and may occasionally travel within Connecticut and Rhode Island to meet with NIUVT personnel and partners.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Maintain and ensure research records are current and accurate, and support preparation of necessary reports.

    Learn and remain up to date on current NIUVT research and support research synergies/opportunities for NIUVT students and faculty with industry and government partners.

    Provide support to facilitate UConn student and faculty engagement in trainings, technical group meetings, annual meetings, and other institute events.

    Assist the NIUVT Research Coordinator with project logistics involving technical, material, equipment, and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) needs.

    Work as part of a team to coordinate with students, faculty, and security training to compile new and updated Technology Control and Security Plans (TCSP) and Export Controlled and Classified Information Certification (EEC) with UConn and NIUVT personnel.

    Attend regular meetings as needed with academic, industry, and government partners.

    Maintain website and materials for student and faculty compliance and training.

    Perform related work as required.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Associate’s degree and two to three years of administrative experience with demonstrated knowledge of record keeping, creating reports, and drafting correspondence; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Demonstrated ability to work independently to solve problems efficiently and effectively.

    Excellent written and verbal communication.

    Ability to meet with students and faculty across the College of Engineering with occasional travel in Connecticut (i.e. UConn Avery Point) and Rhode Island.

    Meets all U.S. government regulations for access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and Controlled Technical Information (CTI) for the entirety of the appointment.

      

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience in higher education.

    Experience handling time sensitive data.

    Experience working with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).

    Experience with Microsoft Office Products, i.e. (Word and Excel) Kuali, Website design software.

     

    APPOINTMENT TERMS

    This is a full-time, end-dated, position that is annually renewable based on performance and available funding. This position works on-site at the Storrs campus and may occasionally travel within Connecticut and Rhode Island to meet with students and faculty across the College of Engineering. The University of Connecticut offers outstanding benefits including employee and dependent tuition waivers at UConn and a highly desirable work environment. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s background and experience (range of$45,842 to $50,000).
