Starting August 15th, ITS will be implementing changes to our Microsoft 365 environment to comply with recent audit findings and enhance security (view ITS’s announcement). Below is a list of the changes:
- Consent to be recorded in Teams: If someone initiates a recording or transcription in Teams, individual participants will see a message asking for consent. You agree by unmuting, turning on your camera, or sharing your screen and then clicking “Yes” when asked if you provide consent. To decline, do not respond affirmatively and keep your camera and microphone off.
- Authentication to Microsoft 365 Online: This change applies to Apple devices and those that are not managed by the University, like a personal device or a university-issued workstation that does not receive automatic updates from ITS or another department. When you are using the Web interface for Microsoft 365 and your device is inactive for over an hour (you are not working on it), your session will timeout. To resume activity, you must log in again.
- Access to external apps and providers: LinkedIn account connections to UConn Microsoft accounts will be disabled. Access to user-owned apps and services in the Microsoft Office Store will be disabled.
