Are your students looking for Winter Break opportunities? Experiential Global Learning is excited to inform you about 9 EGL opportunities for your students to broaden their horizons through our winter study abroad programs. These programs offer enriching experiences in diverse global settings, allowing students to immerse themselves in different cultures while continuing their academic journey. We encourage you to explore these unique educational opportunities with your students and help them embark on a transformative winter abroad.
Winter Experiential Global Learning Program:
- AIFS Abroad in Rome, Italy: January program - Students will earn 3 credits and have a variety of class options including Architecture, Art History, Communications, Italian Language, Psychology, Religious Studies, and Sociology. Two of the available course options (Cross Cultural Psychology - CA4 and Comparative Religions - CA1;CA4-INT) are aligned with UConn Content Areas.
- Winter Geoscience and Geohazards in Taiwan program - Students will earn 3 credits of GSCI 4995: Special Topics: Geoscience and Geohazards in Tawain on this 3 week faculty led program.
- Winter American Sign Language in Puerto Rico program - Students will earn 3 credits of ASLN 3293: Foreign Study: Winter American Sign Language in Puerto Rico on this faculty led program. Please note, this program is only for students who have taken ASLN 1103 or higher and/or consent of the instructor.
- AIFS Abroad in Barcelona, Spain: January program - Students will earn 3 credits and choose between either Spanish Art and Cultural Heritage or International Business for their course.
- AIFS Study Abroad in the Galapagos Islands: January Term program - Students will earn 3 EEB credits while taking Ecosystems and Biodiversity in the Galapagos.
- ISA: Winter Liberal Arts in Seville, Spain program – Students will earn 3 credits, choosing between Andalusia through the Arts or Cultures and Religions: Muslims, Jews, Christians in Southern Europe for their course.
- Winter in Costa Rica faculty-led program – Students will earn 6 credits, including HRTS/LLAS/SPAN 3294: Topics in Human Rights in Central America (3 credits). Students will be placed in either LLAS/SPAN 1193 or 3293: Foreign Study: Intensive Spanish (3 credits) depending on their prior Spanish knowledge. For fluent Spanish speakers, LLAS/SPAN 3293 will be a civilization and culture course on Costa Rican literature and history with a focus on human rights issues.
Please encourage your students to meet with an Experiential Global Learning advisor this summer to explore program options! The deadline for Winter applications is October 1st!
