With mixed emotions I share with you that Jen Person, Director of Payroll, has accepted the Executive Director of HR Operations position at the CT State Colleges & Universities, System Office. Her last day of work at UConn is Thursday, June 27, 2024.
Jen has been an integral part of the University community for almost 29 years. Because of her leadership and unwavering commitment, approximately 20,000 UConn employees received accurate and timely paychecks every two weeks for years. This was accomplished while maintaining compliance with laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements. During her tenure, Jen developed and implemented the Fiscal Institute for Training, engaged in extensive efforts to create efficiencies and improve processes, served as UConn’s Project Manager for the Core-CT implementation, and built critical working relationships with state leadership. Jen has also been heavily involved in the University community through her years of service on the UConn Foundation Close to Home Campaign, teaching First Year Experience classes, and mentoring students through UConn Connects, not to mention, UConn’s biggest basketball fan!
Jen will leave the UConn Payroll Office in capable and dependable hands as Ellen Lowe steps up to serve as the Interim Director of Payroll. Ellen has worked at the university for 24 years overseeing the production of biweekly payroll, and in every facet of the department, including compliance, education, outreach, and numerous initiatives. We welcome Ellen to the interim role and thank her for agreeing to lead the outstanding Payroll Office team.
A farewell reception for Jen will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 1-3pm in the Budds Building second floor conference room. Please join me in wishing Jen continued success in her new role and thanking her for steady, collegial leadership and excellent service to the university.
