  • Immunotherapy Study Enrolling Healthy Subjects

    Study of adverse symptoms, gut microbiome, and cancer immunotherapy

    We are recruiting healthy control participants for a research study aimed at uncovering the role of the gut microbiome (e.g., bacteria, fungi and other microbes living in the human gastrointestinal tract) in pain and other comorbid symptoms associated with cancer immunotherapy. This study is approved by the UConn Health IRB (IRB#: 22-193S-1). If you meet the eligibility criteria, please reach out to us to schedule an appointment.

    Who is eligible?

    • Ages 60 to 90 years
    • No diagnosed chronic gastrointestinal tract disorders (e.g., Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, etc.)
    • No serious medical and mental health conditions (e.g., neurological deficits, etc.)
    • Willing to participate in a single-visit study, which involves completing questionnaires about symptoms, lifestyle, and demographic information, as well as providing saliva and at-home stool samples
    • Able to speak and read English

    All participants will receive a $100 gift card for completing the study. This study involves a single-visit one-time, 2-hour session at the UConn School of Nursing Biobehavioral Research Lab on the Storrs or Farmington campus. Parking for all visits is free.
