  • Financial Assistant 2

    The University of Connecticut Accounting Office is seeking applications for a Financial Assistant II  to perform asset-related financial record-keeping functions for the Inventory Control unit in the Accounting Office.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Creates, maintains, and monitors university-wide asset financial records in the Kuali Financial System.
    2. Monitors fiscal procedures for duplication, efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with required policies and regulations, making modifications as needed.
    3. Prepares regular asset financial information, including data analysis and reconciliation.
    4. Assists in developing and managing department/division asset financial reports.
    5. May supervise the work of staff engaged in financial record-keeping functions; may train staff and assist in selection. Communicates with various departmental staff regarding Inventory Control policies and procedures.
    6. Prepares reports as appropriate to meet University, State, federal and department/division requirements.
    7. Prepares asset-related financial transactions and monitors the purchase of capital assets by university departments.
    8. Processes capital expenditure transactions and processes all necessary paperwork, following up to resolve problems as they arise.
    9. Performs related duties as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Five to ten years progressively responsible experience in financial record keeping, supervision and reporting.
    2. Sound knowledge of financial report preparation and fiscal control methods.
    3. Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
    4. Experience using web-based systems and reporting tools.
    5. Ability to analyze and modify fiscal procedures.
    6. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Bachelor's degree in accounting and two to four years related experience.
    2. Strong analytical, organization, and technical skills.
    3. Strong working knowledge of Excel, Access and other Microsoft applications.
    4. Knowledge of Kuali Financial Systems (KFS) and WebFocus.
