After a brief overview of university-wide expectations for W courses, we'll discuss pragmatic strategies for making writing-intensive courses across the disciplines more engaging, effective, and inclusive. We'll also address how to account for generative AI in course design and teaching.
All faculty and staff who are teaching any course that involves writing are welcome to join us. This orientation is required for all graduate students who intend to teach or assist with a W course or lab.
Another W Teaching Orientation will be offered in August 2024, but many find that attending one months ahead of teaching allows them to apply what they learn to course planning.
