The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) is pleased to welcome Monika Lau as the Director of the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) and Conflicts of Interest Office across all UConn campuses including UConn Health.
Monika comes to UConn from Yale, where she spent more than 15 years in different roles within the realm of human research oversight. Her experience includes roles within the Institutional Review Board (IRB) office, HRPP Operations, Radioactive Drug Research Committee, HIPAA Privacy, and the Institutional Conflict of Interest Office. She is an expert in data privacy issues, HIPAA rules, data sharing plans, Part 11 compliance for FDA regulated research, international privacy protection laws such as GDPR or PIPL, and all aspects of conflicts of interest. She holds a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Lodz in Poland.
