  • 4/11 Irish Novelist Caoilinn Hughes Reading

    1:00pm, April 11

Stern Lounge, AUST 217, UConn Storrs

Irish novelist Caoilinn Hughes is the author of The Wild Laughter, winner of the Royal Society of Literature’s Encore Award, & The Orchid & the Wasp, which won the Collyer Bristow Prize. Currently a NYPL Cullman Center Fellow, she will read from her brand-new novel, The Alternatives, an unexpectedly hopeful story of four brilliant Irish sisters who converge on a ruined house to reconnect when the oldest disappears. Louise Kennedy calls Hughes “one of the most intelligent, surprising, and delightful writers around. The Alternatives made me laugh, cry, and think.” Kirkus called The Alternatives “intelligent, impassioned, and wholly satisfying” and Booklist judged it to be “simply brilliant.”
