Additional UConn Information

  • Refer Your Student to Be a Connects Mentor

The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) is currently recruiting student mentors for the UConn Connects program for the Fall 2024 term. Students will participate in a 3-credit Educational Psychology course and work with a small group of students on academic probation 1:1 during the semester.

    Who Makes a Great Mentor?

We are looking for upperclassmen who have experience navigating the nuances of the college experience, including academics and balancing life outside the classroom as a young adult. Some of our best mentors found themselves unexpectedly on academic probation earlier in their college career and utilized university resources to gain the skills to be successful in their major.

Benefits of participation in the program include:

    • Development of leadership and interpersonal skills that can be demonstrated on a resume, in an interview,
      or application for graduate school.
    • Community Building with fellow mentors, faculty, staff and students at the University.
    • Opportunity for advancement through the tiered mentorship model in the AAC to become an Academic Coach, Mentor Coach and/or Intern with the department.
    • Early arrival on campus this summer for training that includes room and board, as well as networking with mentors from programs across campus.
    • Gaining insights on issues impacting student academic performance with an opportunity to propose potential solutions based on demographics, collected data and analytics.
