  • Passing of a UConn Student: Tyler Lin

    We are saddened to share the news of the passing of UConn student, Tyler Lin. On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, Tyler passed away unexpectedly at his home in Toms River, NJ. He began his UConn career in the fall 2020.

    Tyler was a dedicated student studying Statistics. He was expected to graduate in May 2024. His family has provided this obituary to share more about Tyler who will be missed dearly by family and friends.

    Student Health & Wellness Mental Health Services, 4th floor of Arjona is available to provide support to the students who may be struggling.  To make an appointment with SHaW-Mental Health call 860-486-4705 or schedule an appointment online. Students who need to talk to someone after hours can engage with BeWell@UConn which offers free and confidential mental health support 24/7/365 by calling (833) 308-3040.     Dean of Students Office - At any point in time please remember that the staff in the Dean of Students are here for you. Located in room 203, Wilbur Cross we are available to help students navigate difficult experiences. You can stop by during drop-in hours, Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 1pm-3pm, Thursdays from 9am – 11:30am and Wednesdays from 5pm-7pm in the Cultural Centers, no appointment needed at those times. If you prefer an appointment, call 860-486-3426 to request a meeting with an Assistant Dean. 

    This is a difficult time for the University as we navigate the many emotions people have after experiencing the loss of another community member. In addition to the sadness of this immediate incident, we are aware that tragedy may trigger our own personal histories of loss and grief. Staff and faculty are encouraged to reach out to UConn’s Employee Assistance Program if they are in need of support.

    The loss of a community member is extremely difficult, and our deepest sympathy goes out to Tyler’s family, and friends during this time.
