  • 2/22 Submit Your Mid-Semester Grades

Mid-Semester Grade Rosters Are Now Available

University Senate By-Laws require that instructors of 1000 and 2000-level courses must submit midterm grades for all students during the mid-semester grading period which spans the sixth through eighth week of the semester (Monday, February 19, 2024 – Friday, March 8, 2024).  Instructors of all other undergraduate and graduate courses are highly encouraged to submit mid-semester grades.

Midterm grades must be submitted through the Student Administration system, and directions for doing so can be found on the Registrar’s website.

Submission of midterm grades plays an important role in student success as outlined by the following reasons:

    • Students will be prompted to connect with instructors and academic support resources in order to discuss their status in the course as well as strategies for success.
    • When students are empowered early to seek support for academic success, they are less likely to withdraw from or fail the course, thus decreasing the need repeat the course.  This results in positive degree progression, and ultimately, less demand on enrollments in the course.  This also contributes to a more positive perception of the course by students because of their ability to succeed in it.
    • If academic advisors and other student support offices are aware of a student’s academic progress, they can engage in both congratulatory and educative/corrective forms of outreach to students.
    • Students will be better equipped to make informed academic decisions, and if necessary, can have a conversation before week 11 about whether or not a withdrawal, pass/fail, or other academic option is most appropriate.
    • Ultimately, having access to midterm grades helps students make a successful transition to UConn.  In high school, students have access to all student grades (homework, quizzes, exams) throughout the academic year.  Giving students this continuity in experience can help students transition academic standards and expectations of UConn successfully.

Again, please take the time to submit midterm grades for all students in 1000- and 2000-level courses as soon as possible (beginning Monday, February 19), but no later than the eighth week of the semester (Friday, March 8, 2024).  Detailed directions for doing so can be found here.

Thank you so much for your assistance in communicating to students about their academic performance in your course(s).
