Captain Justin Gilbert promoted to Deputy Chief of Police
After a comprehensive internal search process, the Division of University Safety is pleased to announce that Captain Justin Gilbert has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief of Police, effective February 9, 2024.
Deputy Chief Gilbert graduated from UConn with an undergraduate degree in 2006 and has sixteen years of progressive law enforcement experience. He is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va. Deputy Chief Gilbert has also received his Master of Public Administration from UConn in 2021 and has distinguished himself as a leader who works cohesively and collaboratively with both internal and external groups. He has been involved in several UConn Police Department initiatives such as Citizens Academy, implementation of the LiveSafe safety application and liaison to the Incident Response Team, among others. Deputy Chief Gilbert is committed to the continued development of efficient, strong relationships between the police department and members of the community.
