Winter Wonder Weekend February Weekend Art Classes
Celebrate the wonder of winter and get ready for hands-on art making fun! These workshops, designed for students ages 6-11, include a guided tour, scavenger hunt, and a hands-on art project. Space is limited for each session and reservations are required; please contact the Curator of Education at 860-486-1711 or email mollie.sixsmith@uconn.edu to reserve your place.
Winter Wonder Snow Globes
Saturday, February 17, 1:30-3pm
After a winter fun scavenger hunt through the galleries, students will design artwork to go in their very own water, snow, and glitter-filled snow globe. Time for sculpting a base and figures will also be included.
$15 per student (non-member); $12 per student (museum member).
Wacky Winter Painting and Printing
Sunday, February 18, 1:30-3pm
Imagine making a painting with your toothbrush or printing with a fork? In this wild and wacky session, students will learn about and design winter animals like polar bears and owls. Time for an animal-themed scavenger hunt will also be included.
$15 per student (non-member); $12 per student (museum member).
If you can’t make it for these classes, remember that the Museum is open Tuesday-Sunday for drop-in vacation week fun. Explore the Museum As Classroom: Teaching and Learning with Art exhibition, pick up a scavenger hunt at the front desk, and borrow the Sketch & Story art activity kit and practice sketching in the galleries.
