  • 1/7 Free Women's Self-Defense Course

     

    The UConn Police Department’s Safety Techniques & Awareness Resource Team (START) is pleased to offer a FREE women's self-defense program: Surviving Violent Encounters (SVE).

    This 10-hour self-defense program, will run for 2 consecutive Sundays: January 7th and January 14th; each class starts promptly at 9:00am, ending around 2:00pm.  Each class will be held at the UConn Hawley Armory located on the Storrs campus.  This comprehensive program helps participants identify realistic risks to their safety, evoke discussion of risk assessment and response strategies, and develop physical and mental preparedness skills through repetition and simulation training.

    Class size is limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please submit an email request to participate in the course to justin.cheney@uconn.edu.
