As the Executive Director of the CT Information Technology Institute, I am looking to source several projects for our senior undergraduate capstone class running this Spring semester within the Operations and Information Management department in the UConn School of Business. The AIM (Analytics and Information Management) major focuses on business technology and applying their technological knowledge in operations, analytics, IT security, and software development problems. The intersection of these skill sets forms a unique way to assist organizations / businesses run both more effectively and efficiently. If you have a project with the scope of ~ 3 months that 3 - 4 undergraduate AIM students could work on, please consider reaching out to be a project sponsor.
Sponsors work directly with the student team to determine deliverables, points of communication and scope of work. Members not only meet with sponsors, but also are mentored by faculty throughout the semester being advised on resources, scoping, and best practices. The students culminate the semester with a hand-off of all deliverables and documentation to the sponsor, make an oral presentation, conduct a peer, and class review, and prepare a written report.
Past projects have included building web apps, databases, automated forms, spreadsheet models, websites, basic software development or customization, and data analysis. A sponsorship fee is included to support the project costs. This fee is flexible on a sliding scale especially for nonprofits and internal departments to the university. Please note that students are not allowed payment for project participation from the sponsor.
