GALLERY TALK • THURSDAY • 12:15 PM
Curator Carla Galfano’s gallery talk on the Benton exhibition, "Victory is a Question of Stamina: Posters from the First World War," will focus on the nature of visual imagery as one of the primary and most effective means of communicating with the public, and demonstrate how posters were successfully used by the United States Government to encourage participation in all aspects of the war effort. The exhibition, which takes its title from a U.S. Food Administration slogan used in support of voluntary food rationing, focuses on the role of women in the allied effort.
