Dear Colleagues,
I’m pleased to announce that the university has hired David Galloway to serve as our next Chief Audit and Compliance Officer following a national search. David comes to UConn from Brigham Young University in Utah, where he has served as the Executive Director of Compliance and Audit for the last 14 years.
At UConn, David will lead the Office of Audit, Compliance and Ethics (OACE), which oversees audit and compliance functions for the entire university, including UConn Health. He brings with him the experience, skill and knowledge that are necessary to most effectively lead this vital and highly complex area.
At BYU, he directs all compliance and internal audit services. His accomplishments include reorganizing the internal audit department to provide additional focus on high-risk areas of the campus and to facilitate implementation of continuous improvement programs. He also recommended and implemented an overall compliance program for BYU.
Prior to his time at BYU, he was the Director of Internal Audit for Florida-based Tech Data Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, and was also Director of Internal Audit for the Washington Public Power Supply System in Washington State.
He is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), and a member of the Association of College and University Auditors, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Society for Corporate Compliance and Ethics.
He received his undergraduate degree from BYU and his Master of Accounting degree from Utah State University. He also spent three years as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army.
I would like to thank Cheryl Chiaputti, who served as interim Chief Audit and Compliance Officer for more than a year while the search for this position was taking place. She will continue to serve as the Director of Audit Services in OACE.
David begins on September 29. Please join me in welcoming him to UConn.
Sincerely,
Susan Herbst
President
University of Connecticut
