  • 10/2 Gubernatorial Debate; Ticket Information

    The Hartford Courant and FOX CT, in conjunction with the University of Connecticut, are hosting a live televised debate between gubernatorial candidates Tom Foley and Dan Malloy on October 2 beginning at 7 p.m. The debate will take place at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts. UConn supports opportunities for its community to be engaged in the democratic process and encourages members of the University to attend.

     

    It should be noted, however, that live productions require a specific set of ground rules for participation. The rules of attendance outlined below will be strictly enforced. Anyone not in compliance with the rules of the event will not able to attend or will be asked to leave.

     

    SCHEDULE:

    6:15 p.m.                     Doors open

    6:55 p.m.                     Audience must be in their seats; no one will be allowed in after this time.

    7:00 p.m.                     Debate begins

    8:00 p.m.                     Debate ends

     

    RULES OF ATTENDANCE:

    • You must commit to staying for the entire event; even if it runs beyond 8:00 p.m.
    • Audience members may not get up and down or speak during the event.
    • Cell phones must be silenced.
    • No flash photography.
    • Signs, placards, cards, and other campaign materials are prohibited.
    • 2-inch candidate campaign buttons are permitted.
    • Audience members are asked to refrain from applauding or in other ways demonstrating support for or opposition to a candidate during the debate.
    • No book bags, backpacks or beverages. No storage or “check-in area” will be provided.

     

    FOR TICKETS:

    • A limited number of tickets are available at no charge.
    • Tickets may be picked up (no online or phone reservations) at the Jorgensen Box Office in Storrs, CT or at a UConn Co-op location at one of our regional campus locations – Avery Point, Greater Hartford, Law School, Stamford, Torrington, and Waterbury.
    • Faculty, staff and students may pick up tickets at these locations beginning September 15. You must present your UConn I.D.
    • The general public may pick up tickets at these locations beginning September 18.
