Research, Funding, and Awards

  • Dr. Megan O'Grady: Research Grants

Megan O’Grady, PhD, Assistant Professor in Public Health Sciences, received the following awards:

    1)      Funding from the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) to undertake the evaluation of a 5-year SAMHSA-funded Prevent Prescription Drug/Opioid Overdose-Related Deaths (PDO) grant. In collaboration with CT DMHAS, the goal of this project is to reduce opioid overdose deaths and hospitalizations in Connecticut by building state and community capacity and infrastructure by raising public awareness about opioid and fentanyl misuse, providing education on overdose response to first responders, healthcare providers, and family members, and increasing Naloxone distribution.

    2)      A new 5-year NIH grant titled “Person-centered quality measurement and management in a system for addictions treatment in New York State”.  This project was funded by NIDA to establish an Opioid Use Disorder Quality Measurement and Management Research Center. The broad aim of this Center is to build, then test, a science-based opioid use disorder quality metric and management strategy to improve person-centered addiction treatment. Dr. O’Grady will be leading one of the three projects that this Center funds. This Center is a collaboration between the NYU School of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medicine, the NY State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (NYS OASAS), and UConn Health.
