Media training for the screens: Creating short video content for your class
    Thursday, November 9, 11:00 AM - 12:30 (90 min)
    Presenter: Luiza Printes dos Santos

Location: Hybrid/In person, (Storrs) and online (Webex link will be sent to registered participants)
    Capacity: 20

Video recording is quickly becoming the standard learning format for educational experiences. Whether you are planning a fully remote or hybrid class or an in-person lecture with online tasks, videos can bring us closer to our audience in an engaging and multisensory experience.

This 90-minute, workshop will provide practical experience in media training for digital screens, to enhance your communication skills for video content. The focus will be on building your ability to record short and precise videos with a smartphone and build an in-house studio environment. We will examine successful educational videos across various digital platforms, analyze data on video outcomes for optimal learning experiences, and familiarize ourselves with multimedia tools to build a short digital story. By the end of the workshop, you will have the opportunity and skills to record two options of short videos:

    1)    One-minute video recorded in your house giving an introduction of yourself and the class (like an elevator pitch) to be sent to your class before the semester starts.

    2)    One-minute video explaining a subject you are comfortable with in a vertical screen format.

Room location and online link will be shared with registered participants closer to the date of the workshop.
