About Legacy:
Established in January 2007, the Leadership Legacy Experience is a prestigious year-long program designed to empower the University's most exceptional student leaders. It's an immersive, comprehensive, and substantive experience that builds on your legacy as a University leader, preparing students for a life of commitment and contribution beyond graduation.
Program Objectives:
As a Legacy Student, they will:
- Deepen their understanding of their abilities and responsibilities as a leader in society.
- Forge lifelong connections with their peers.
- Build essential networking relationships with supportive University alumni.
- Solidify their legacy as a University of Connecticut student leader.
- Prepare them for a life of selfless, civically motivated, and socially responsible leadership.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria:
We are looking for students who have consistently demonstrated significant contributions to the campus and the broader community. To be eligible, students must be a full-time Storrs undergraduate student (Sophomore and up) from January to December (the full calendar year)

Key Program Components
The Leadership Legacy Experience is a comprehensive program that includes:
- Legacy Bi-Weekly Meetings: Workshops and personal development sessions to prepare students for leadership beyond UConn.
- Legacy Lecture Series: Engage with outstanding leaders from various fields.
- Douglas A. Bernstein Summit & Banquet: A 2-day summit and banquet designed for Legacy Students (and their families)
- Experiential Learning: Participate in outdoor and experientially based leadership development activities.
- Alumni and Faculty Mentoring: Build meaningful relationships with University Alumni and faculty members.
Program Completion
To successfully complete the program, students will need to attend scheduled lectures, workshops, and other related events, meet periodically with mentors, and maintain good academic and disciplinary standing throughout the program.
