  • AVP Facilities Operations: Interim Appointment

    Dear Colleagues,

Michael Jednak, Associate Vice President for Facilities Operations, who has served the University since 2013, will be departing later this month for a position at Florida State University.

I am pleased to announce that Stanley Nolan, Facilities Operations Executive Director, who oversees Building Trades, Utility Operations, and Energy Management, has agreed to serve as interim Associate Vice President for Facilities Operations effective July 21, 2023. In addition to his existing areas of responsibility, as the interim AVP of Facilities Operations, Stanley will also oversee Facilities Operations Business Services, Logistics, Planned Maintenance, Regional Campuses Facilities, and Project Administration Building renovations.

I would like to thank Stanley for agreeing to take on these significant additional responsibilities. As many of you know, Stanley is an exceptionally effective, respected, and experienced leader and administrator. He served in the United States Navy and then in the private global energy production and marketing business to develop and transition several large facilities to more climate friendly methodologies. He originally joined UConn in 2007 as Cogeneration Facility Operator in NP-2, was promoted to an UCPEA Facilities Engineer in 2008, and Director in 2014. Stanley’s progressive advancement within UConn provides him unique and valuable insight to help deliver on university commitments to academic excellence as well as sustainability and carbon neutrality.

Stanley earned his Master of Science in Business Analytics and Project Management at UConn; and undergraduate degrees from the Thomas Edison State University in Nuclear Engineering.

Please join me in congratulating Stanley and thanking him for his leadership and willingness to

    serve in this interim role.

    Sincerely,

Lloyd Blanchard, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Planning, Chief Strategy Officer
