  • Work-Study Research Assistant Program Information

The Office of Undergraduate Research’s Work-Study Research Assistant Program offers students who have a 2023-2024 Federal Work-Study award the opportunity to work as research assistants, which helps these students build research skills, explore their academic interests, and forge connections with UConn faculty. The program offers faculty the opportunity to hire an undergraduate research assistant for the year at no cost. Full program details and job description templates are available on the faculty-facing program webpage and in the WSRAP Program Overview document.

Faculty interested in hiring a student should take a few minutes to review the Guidelines for Faculty Posting a Research Assistant Position prior to submitting a job description. We ask that interested faculty submit a job description via the online WSRAP Submission form. Faculty may submit a job description for consideration through August 7, 2023, but a later posting typically results in fewer applications. Many work-study students are actively seeking a work-study position prior to the start of the fall semester. Note that the online submission form requires you to agree to the WSRAP and Federal work-study requirements.

Information on student requirements is available here. Students hired through this program work an average of 6 hours/week over the course of both semesters.
