    JOB SUMMARY

    The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences seeks applicants for a full-time position as an Educational Program Assistant 2 for the Department of History.  Under the general supervision of the Educational Program Administrator, this position will provide programmatic and administrative support for the Department with a focus on the graduate program.  The incumbent is expected to work independently under supervision and within the defined guidelines established by the program and the supervisor. 

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Include but are not limited to:

    Graduate Program

    • Provides administrative, financial, and program support for the Graduate Program.
    • Supports departmental efforts in graduate recruitment and admissions.
    • Acts as the departmental liaison with the Graduate School and advises students on rules and regulations of the Graduate School, Department, College and University. 
    • Coordinates communication between the department and other central offices in academic matters regarding Graduate students and departmental needs.
    • Maintains program statistics, assembles data, prepares reports for the purpose of monitoring the progress of students.
    • Maintains files and records, as well as resource materials and program information.
    • Initiates and processes graduate employment paperwork and fellowships for the department.
    • Serves as liaison with the International Student and Scholar Services for visas, including preparation and submission.

    Travel and Events

    • Plans and executes department events, speaker arrangements, outreach activities, and interviews.
    • Coordinates and processes guest travel and reimbursements.
    • Processes department reimbursements, travel expense reports, and other related fiscal documents.

    Department Communication

    • Prepares department communication, including the department newsletter.
    • Maintains the department website and oversees Social Media for the department.
    • Provides basic technical support for the Department, such as coordinating virtual seminars, online ballots, and forms.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree and two to three years of progressively responsible administrative experience.
    • Highly organized self-starter with excellent time-management skills.
    • Excellent computer skills including MS Office and enterprise software.
    • Excellent attention to detail, communication, written, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to efficiently prioritize workload.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Four years or more of directly related experience.
    • Experience coordinating, planning, and executing events.
    • Experience with website design and maintenance, familiarity with WordPress.
    • Experience working in a higher education academic environment.
    • Experience with Kuali, PeopleSoft, PageUp or similar university enterprise software.
    • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite/Photoshop, or similar graphic design software.

    APPOINTMENT TERMS

    This is a full-time position. The University offers a competitive salary, outstanding benefits including employee and dependent tuition waivers at UConn, and a highly desirable work environment. This position will be in person at the UConn Storrs campus within the Department of History. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate's background and experience. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
