  • KSI Research Study: Participants Ages 18-60 Needed

PARTICIPANTS WANTED for a research study to assessing hydration and heat stress to enhance the current algorithm for hydration and heat stress index at The University of Connecticut, Kinesiology Department.

Purpose: To assess various levels of progressive dehydration, rehydration, and core temperature in extreme and temperate environments to enhance the current hydration and heat stress index algorithm. Information from this study will contribute to improvements and advancements to current algorithms to predict heat stress and rehydration. Testing consists of 1 baseline visit (~1 hour), 1 familiarization visit (~1 hour), and 4 exercise trials (~3-5 hours each).

Participants will be eligible to receive up to $730 for full completion of the study

    Eligibility requirements:

    • Aerobically fit males and females ages 18 to 60 (in need of all ages within this range!)
    • Individuals of various skin types (need to have representation of skin types #4, #5, and #6 on the Fitzpatrick Scale)
    • No prior history of adverse reactions to the heat
    • Meets aerobic fitness requirements:
