  • Int'l Student Welcome Team: Volunteer Needed

    Greetings from CISS,

My name is Huong Pham, and I am the International Programs Coordinator in the Center for International Students & Scholars (CISS). We are looking for students, staff and faculty volunteers to join the CISS Welcome Team to assist new international students moving to campus on Friday, August 18, 2023. Volunteers will help students get their room keys, get their Husky One Cards, direct students to their room assignments, and help to set up and take down the campus welcome stations. Each volunteer is expected to commit a minimum of 3 hours of volunteer work. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete our online volunteer form so that we will know your availability. After you complete the form, we will contact you with your specific volunteer assignment as soon as possible.

The volunteer form is available here. Benefits of volunteering on the CISS Welcome Team include:

    • Meet new students, welcome them to UConn and be a UConn Ambassador,
    • Share information and advice that will help new students as they move in to campus, you are UConn experts,
    • Build your resume! Volunteer activities show initiative when you apply for scholarships, graduate school and future jobs,
    • Swag - A free t-shirt to wear on August 18.

We will also hold mandatory volunteer training before move-in day. Volunteers can choose from two in-person training sessions: Wednesday, August 16 from 3pm to 4pm or Thursday, August 17 from 2pm to 3pm, please mark your calendar now for this event. We depend on many volunteers to help us put on a successful welcome program each semester and we appreciate the help we have received in the past. Please consider volunteering for this event if you are available. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at huong.pham@uconn.edu.

We really appreciate your time and support!

    Sincerely,

    Huong
