    JOB SUMMARY

    Project Daedalus is a collection of three separate contracts with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) totaling $18.1M. The primary mission of these contracts is to provide transformative solutions to manufacturing challenges and lay the groundwork for the next generation of photonic and magneto-optic applications.

    Housed in the Innovation Partnership Building (IPB) at UConn Tech Park, Project Daedalus seeks qualified applicants for the full-time Educational Program Assistant 2 position. Under the supervision of the Project Daedalus Program Manager, the incumbent will carry out an array of administrative functions in support of the 26+ individual projects. It is expected that this position interface directly with faculty and students to provide highly detail-oriented feedback and support as well as other duties as required.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Compile technical reports to federal standards in a timely manner.
    • Manage modes of communications across Project Daedalus, disseminate program announcements, and maintain an updated roster.
    • Ensure program information is received on time from faculty and students.
    • Own Data Sharing and Approval Process to ensure accurate and efficient submission of documentation and application of appropriate distribution statements.
    • Work with the Program Manager to determine policy changes and augment appropriate documentation.
    • Coordinate faculty, student, and staff schedules for required meetings and events.
    • Facilitate in-person and virtual technical meetings when needed.
    • Exercise discretion regarding sensitive technical and administrative information.
    • Maintain organized records for data transfer and facilitate program closeouts.
    • Engage in organization of high-profile events and meetings including taking responsibility for necessary reservations and accommodations.
    • Other related duties and special projects as assigned by the Program Manager.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, STEM or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education or experience.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated attention to detail.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment on routine tasks.
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
    • U.S. Citizenship required to perform position responsibilities. 

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Background in a STEM field.
    • Previous experience in industry or DoD.
    • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
    • Self-motivated with a drive for excellence.
    • Program management experience a plus.
    • Willingness to learn and offer creative solutions.
    • Currently holding or eligible to hold a security clearance with the federal government. 

    APPOINTMENT TERMS

    This is a full-time, 12-month, annually renewable position with an excellent benefits package. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
