  • Do You Have Chronic Lower Back Pain?

We are seeking participants for a research study investigating the effectiveness of two, free smartphone apps in helping with pain. Participation involves two in-lab study sessions, daily engagement with a free, smartphone app for 30 days (10 minutes/day), and completion of four weekly online surveys (15 minutes each). Each in-lab study session should take no more than 1.5 hours and will consist of a finger-prick blood sample, behavioral task, and survey completion (e.g., mood, thoughts, and feelings). A smartphone will be provided to complete daily app exercises. Participants will receive up to $100 for completing the study. Study sessions will be conducted on the University of Connecticut Storrs campus. Approval of this study is on file with the University of Connecticut IRB (protocol #H20-0165).
To be eligible to participate, you must have chronic lower back pain, be 18 or older, be fluent in English, and not have a chronic condition that affects inflammation (e.g., diabetes). For more information, or to sign up for the study, please contact Dr. Natalie Shook at shooklab@uconn.edu or (860) 486-0913.
