  • New Data Science Majors in CLAS

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences announces the addition of 2 new data science majors for the 2023-24 academic year.

Applied Data Analytics leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree. Statistical Data Science leads to a Bachelor of Science degree. Admission to the majors require students to have met all of the following requirements:

    • Completed a minimum of at least 24 college level credits.
    • Completed at least 15 credits of coursework at UConn.
    • Successfully completed pre-requisite course requirements with a minimum of a 3.2 GPA.
    • Present a cumulative GPA of a 3.2 or higher at the University.

Both majors are currently accepting applications from continuing (currently matriculated) students for the 2023-24 academic year. The majors are offered on the Storrs campus.

Students who have not yet met the pre-requisite requirements for admission to the majors but have an interest can declare their intent to apply on the CLAS Major Declaration website by selecting a pre-major in either Statistical Data Science or Applied Data Analysis. Please note that declaring a pre-major does not guarantee you will be admissible to the program. Students must apply and be formally admitted to the program to graduate with either degree.
