Black Women Undergraduate Mental Health and Wellness Retreat

retreat aimed at providing Black college women psychoeducation on the implications of “strength,” so they might consider how strength manifests and be self-defined in their everyday lives. The retreat is intended to create a “sister-circle” where Black women can present authentically (take off “the mask”), engage in dialogue about the meaning of strength and self-care, as well as connect with one another in supportive ways. Drs. Martinique Jones and Akilah Reynolds, co-founders of the SBW Wellness Collaborative, extend the reach of psychological services beyond the therapy room to the Storrs campus on Saturday, Apr 22, starting at 9:30am in the UConn Foundation Building. This program will also include trauma-informed yoga instruction offered by Nikki Adams, owner of Beauty for Ashes Wellness Cultivation.
