Black Women Undergraduate Mental Health and Wellness Retreat
A retreat aimed at providing Black college women psychoeducation on the implications of “strength,” so they might consider how strength manifests and be self-defined in their everyday lives. The retreat is intended to create a “sister-circle” where Black women can present authentically (take off “the mask”), engage in dialogue about the meaning of strength and self-care, as well as connect with one another in supportive ways. Drs. Martinique Jones and Akilah Reynolds, co-founders of the SBW Wellness Collaborative, extend the reach of psychological services beyond the therapy room to the Storrs campus on Saturday, Apr 22, starting at 9:30am in the UConn Foundation Building. This program will also include trauma-informed yoga instruction offered by Nikki Adams, owner of Beauty for Ashes Wellness Cultivation.
