    What are Teaching Talks?

Join us for an hour of your day to connect with your colleagues. These sessions serve as a springboard for discussions around a topic related to teaching and learning but really give you the chance to share the success and challenges you are facing. Each session has a topical theme but is shaped by the participants’ discussion, needs, and interests.

The thematic focus for this particular session is facilitating group work in small to medium undergraduate courses. All instructors are welcome, even if you teach larger classes or labs.

    Proposed Objectives:

    • Discuss the affordances of, and objectives for, group activities during class
    • Become aware of options for structuring group activities during class
    • Discuss design of longer-term collaborative assignments
    • Share ideas for addressing challenges, including free riders, conflict, and assessment
    • Share what’s on your mind

Note: this is an interactive session, and it will not be recorded.
