The University of Connecticut’s Leadership Legacy Experience is pleased to host Mr. Wendell Wallach who will explore advances in, and the future use of technology in everyday society and the potentially conflicting moral and ethical implications that result. Technological advances and their implications will be discussed in the context of the military, robotics, transportation, neuroscience, and more.
This event, “Man and Machine: The Ethical Implications of Advancing Technologies”, will be held on Monday, November 5th at 6:00 pm in Room 101 of Laurel Hall on the Storrs campus of the University of Connecticut. Wallach will review many of the new technologies being developed in robotics, military defense, and neuroscience as well as the central questions of ethics, policy development, and societal implications of these technologies in warfare and our everyday life.
Mr. Wallach is the chair of the Yale University’s Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics, co-author of Morals and Machines: Teaching Robots Right from Wrong, and has an international reputation as an expert on the governance, law, and ethics of emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and neuroscience.
Admission to this event is free. All members of the community are welcomed to attend this lecture.
