Important University-Wide Announcements

  • AVP for Budget and Finance Lysa Teal

    Dear Colleagues,

Lysa Teal, who has served as the university’s Associate Vice President for Budget and Finance for more than two years, recently informed me that she has accepted a new position at Rhode Island College in Providence, and will be leaving UConn later this month.

I cannot overstate how sorry we are to lose Lysa. Her mastery of the university’s incredibly complex budget is unmatched, as is her ability to successfully guide the finances of this institution in an era of dwindling resources. Lysa has overseen UConn’s budget during some of the most difficult financial years we have ever encountered, and yet she has crafted budgets that have allowed UConn to meet and advance its highest priorities.

Lysa originally joined UConn in 2005 and prior to her most recent appointment in 2012, served as the university’s budget director.

In addition to managing UConn’s $1 billion budget, her work has included providing sound financial analysis and advice on a wide range of issues and initiatives for the university.

I have asked interim Executive Vice President and CFO John Biancamano to organize a search committee to identify a successor for this position.

Please join me in thanking Lysa for her outstanding service to the University of Connecticut, and in wishing her well.

    Susan Herbst
