  • 2/28 MCB Faculty Search Seminar

Please join us Tuesday, February 28, in person, 3:30 pm, BPB 131 for an MCB Faculty Search Seminar hosted by Dr. James Cole

Refreshments will be served at 3:15 in the BPB lobby

Our speaker will be Meghna Gupta, PhD., Postdoctoral Researcher, University of California, San Francisco

Summary: Very long chain and branched chain fatty-acids are transported to the peroxisomes for β- and α-oxidation through ABC transporters on the peroxisomal membrane. The talk will focus on the mechanism of peroxisomal fatty acid transport via these transporters using cryo-EM.

Bio: Dr. Gupta is a postdoctoral scholar in the laboratory of Robert M. Stroud at UCSF. Her interest and expertise are in the areas of membrane protein biochemistry and structural biology. She is currently elucidating the mechanism of peroxisomal membrane protein function and import with a focus on fatty acid metabolism.
