  • Passing of UConn Student Joy Iwuagwu

We are sorry to share the news of the passing of UConn student Joy Iwuagwu, who died unexpectedly on Jan. 26, 2023.

Joy, a native of Hamden, began her UConn career in the fall 2021 semester and was a communications major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Joy was a student intern in the Center for Career Development, where she assisted the digital marketing team in developing content for CCD programs and initiatives. She was also a member of the Black Students Association, and had previously been a content creator with UCTV, UConn’s student-run television station, where she recorded campus events and created videos for its YouTube channel.

Joy’s family will hold a service to honor her life, and friends from UConn are invited to attend. The service will be held this Friday (Feb. 10) at 11 a.m. at the Vertical Church, 225 Meloy Road, West Haven.

Condolences to the Iwuagwu family can be sent to the Dean of Students Office, 233 Glenbrook Road, Unit-4062, Storrs, Conn., 06269-4062.
