  • 2/1 Visual dramaturgy for contemporary Puppet Theatre

Stage design and visual dramaturgy for

    contemporary puppet theatre

A presentation by Hza Bazant (Head of stage design section, Department of Alternative and Puppet theatre, Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Czech Republic)

Puppet Arts Complex, 30 Ahern Lane, Storrs

    Wednesday, February 1 at 7pm

This presentation concerns Bazant’s work and processes in working on a puppet production with a focus on original projects, mainly projects that are not based on a given dramatic text but instead take as a starting point an image, an atmosphere, a season, a place, an abstract poem or a general theme such as the world around us. The presentation charts the journey from this starting point to the final text, looking at how narrative can be created through images and the visual dramaturgy in puppet theatre. The presentation will conclude with a dialogue with the director Vítek PeÅ™ina about their production Cabinet of Wonders.

    All are welcome.
