  • Center for Int'l Students & Scholars Established

    Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce additional exciting changes for Global Affairs and its support for international students and visiting scholars at UConn.

Effective July 25, International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) has moved into a new home at 2019 Hillside Road. This space, named the Center for International Students and Scholars, will serve as a hub for international students and visiting scholars to receive immigration support and engage in intercultural programs and activities.

Arthur Galinat, who has most recently served as Associate Director of ISSS, was appointed Director of International Student and Scholar Services effective July 2. Rae Alexander, former ISSS Director, has moved into a position as Assistant Vice President for Global Affairs.

Also joining ISSS in the Center for International Student and Scholars will be Intercultural Programs and Support, a new unit that will provide support for international students and scholars and faculty and staff who work with our international population.  Jeannie Slayton was appointed Director of Intercultural Programs and Support effective July 2. Jeannie will also continue to lead the University of Connecticut American English Language Institute (UCAELI). UCAELI will be integral to the Intercultural Programs and Support unit and will also be located in the Center for International Students and Scholars.

Please join me in congratulating Arthur, Jeannie and Rae in their new roles, and celebrating the establishment of the Center for International Students and Scholars.

    Sincerely,

    Dan

    Daniel Weiner
