As you likely know, Dr. Peter J. Deckers retired from UConn Health in June 2021. His exemplary, highly professional clinical service to a large patient base and to our community, as well as his leadership and mentoring of students, residents, clinical and research faculty, indeed the entire UConn Health staff, are well known and highly respected.
It is in the spirit of celebrating and thanking Dr. Deckers that we are pleased to share that the Peter J. Deckers, MD., General Surgery Residency Program Distinguished Endowment has been created at the UConn School of Medicine. Dr. Deckers established the UConn Health General Surgical Residency Training Program in 1992. Today, it is among the most sought after clinical academic residency programs anywhere! Its graduates are leading surgeons in major clinical divisions in hospitals not only in the United States but internationally as well.
The Peter J Deckers MD General Surgery Residency Program Distinguished Endowment will provide annual ongoing financial support for the training and education of surgical residents, faculty, and students at UConn Health and throughout its integrated multi-hospital academic system.
