CATHY DOWNS RETIREMENT
Please join me in extending best wishes to Cathy Downs, who is retiring from UConn on June 30. Cathy, who most recently served as the Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs, has provided UConn with 28 years of devoted service. She will be greatly missed by all who worked with her.
Cathy began her career working in the East Hartford Mayor’s office and went on to various roles including Executive Secretary to the Plainville, CT Town Manager, and Executive Secretary to the Senate President Pro Tempore and Chief of Staff for the Connecticut State Senate. Her time at UConn began as the Assistant to the Vice President for Development at the UConn Foundation, then in May 1998 began as the Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs.
Her commitment to excellence and willingness to put in extra time and effort to help all in the UConn community has been extraordinary. I invite you to join me in showing Cathy our tremendous appreciation at a reception that will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. on the Student Union Terrace (rain location SU304). There is no formal program, so feel free to drop in at any point. We invite everyone to attend and wish her a wonderful retirement.
