The Office of the Vice President for Research is pleased to announce Dr. Tricia Leahey’s appointment as interim Director of the Institute for Collaboration on Health, Intervention, and Policy (InCHIP). She will assume her new role on August 23.
A professor of Allied Health Sciences, Dr. Leahey is the Co-Director of the UConn Weight Management Research Group, one of several research interest groups within InCHIP. She has worked closely with InCHIP Director Amy Gorin, who was recently appointed as UConn’s interim Vice Provost for Health Sciences. Dr. Gorin will continue to support InCHIP until Dr. Leahey assumes the interim directorship.
With her professional experience and research expertise, Dr. Leahey is an ideal successor to lead InCHIP. She is a renowned expert in the field of behavioral interventions for weight loss and weight loss maintenance. The National Institute of Health has taken great interest in her work throughout her career and continues to fund her research, including several trials where she currently serves as PI or co-investigator. She is a gifted educator and a past recipient UConn’s Teaching Excellence Award and Brown University’s Psychology Research Mentor Award.
Please join the OVPR in wishing Dr. Leahey luck and success as she takes on this important role.
