  • Dr. Monica van Beusekom's Retirement

Dr. Monica van Beusekom, Director of the Individualized and Interdisciplinary Studies Program and the University Scholars Program, will be retiring from UConn on June 30, 2022, after 16 years of leadership in Enrichment Programs.

Dr. van Beusekom’s dedication to true interdisciplinary learning and supporting students’ scholarly interests is noteworthy, and she is a nationally recognized leader in the field of individualized and interdisciplinary studies. In addition to her direct teaching and mentorship of countless students, Monica’s legacy will include substantial improvements to both the Individualized Major and University Scholar Program. Future students will continue to benefit from the Individualized Major’s new Gateway course and redesigned Capstone course, and University Scholars for years to come will create more robust academic plans that incorporate methods and epistemologies from across all disciplines at UConn. Perhaps her most important contributions, though, were to the many students she advised over her career, all of whom benefited from her time, her talents, and her steadfast support of their learning.

The staff, faculty and students of the UConn Enrichment Programs wish to recognize Dr. van Beusekom’s service to our EP community and to the university. We offer her our sincere thanks for her dedication and collegiality and wish her many years of health and happiness.

Monica’s contributions have touched many areas of the university, so we invite all our UConn colleagues to sign this ecard to help us wish her well as she embarks on retirement:
