  • 4/27 The Criminalization of Women, a Dialogue Event.

The Dialogue initiatives within Community Outreach would like to invite you to our last dialogue of the semester: The Criminalization of Women, a Dialogue event.

Incarcerated women are often overlooked when it comes to prison policy and healthcare. As a result, women in correctional settings have higher mental illness and substance abuse rates than that of male prisoners and the general population.  In this month’s Dialogue & Democracy event, we address/touch upon other topics like sexual violence, reproductive health resources and practices in prison, the criminalization of women, and the factors that perpetuate these injustices with Dr. Melanie Newport of UConn. Come join us in our virtual Political Engagement April Dialogue on April 27th, 2022 at 6:00-7:00 pm via WebEx to discuss the health problems women experience within the US prison system and how education and policy can affect not only them but the community as a whole even after release.

Date and Time: Wednesday April 27th from 6-7 pm

Location: This is a Webex Live event
