    “Autism and Innovation”

    By Dr. Keivan G. Stassun

Dr. Stassun’s talk “Autism and Innovation,” will describe the Frist Center's mission and provide an overview of its work to engineer new technologies and to transform the workplace, with neurodiversity and employment as its inspiration. He will describe a model pipeline for improving access to meaningful employment for adults with autism, with a focus on unique individual capabilities. Topics include new measures of strengths and abilities based on eye-tracking technology, assistive technologies based on virtual reality to develop work-related social communication skills, pre-employment skills training through an ever expanding College Autism Network, and novel employment arrangements led by Vanderbilt's Owen Graduate School of Management, all working in concert to get more adults with autism into the workforce and improving the bottom line for employers.
