The eastern end of Jim Calhoun Way will be closed starting at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022, into the late evening as part of the SUBOG Spring Concert event, the UCONNIC Music Festival.
The music and recreation event, coordinated annually by the Student Union Board of Governors (SUBOG), takes place this year in and around Gampel Pavilion, and is expected to draw almost 4,000 people.
It will include a lineup of food trucks along the closed portion of Jim Calhoun Way, along with recreation activities nearby and the concert inside Gampel starting at 6 p.m.
Daily commuters exiting the South Garage’s lower level after 3:30 p.m. will be required to turn left onto Jim Calhoun Way; it will not be possible to turn right onto Jim Calhoun Way. Hillside Road will remain accessible from the South Garage’s lower exit by following Alumni Drive to the North Garage roundabout or using the garage’s fifth-floor exit and proceeding directly to Hillside Road.
Signs will be posted to alert drivers of the Jim Calhoun Way road closure, and buses will also be detoured around the closed portion of the road for the duration of the event.
