  • 4/6 Ignite 2014 -- Close to Home

    Dear colleagues,

As you may know, Ignite 2014 UConn's student crowdfunding competition launched this past Feb. 9th and ends this Sunday, April 6th at midnight. Ignite gives UConn students and young alumni the opportunity to follow, connect with, and support causes at the University of Connecticut that they are most passionate about.

For the past seven weeks, 18 teams from various schools and colleges as well as the Division of Student Affairs have been competing for the highest number of student and young alumni donors to earn a portion of $27,000 in prizes to their UConn cause with donations directed to their UConn Foundation fund. This program is generously supported by two UConn Foundation Board Members and alumni David Barton ’61 and Adam Schwartz ’97. In 2013, Ignite’s first year, more than 2,755 donors gave $40,756 dollars to support Ignite. 88% of those donors were FIRST TIME donors and almost 75% were students or young alumni.

New this year, there are awards for OVERALL donors to the student causes which means YOUR GIFT COUNTS! If you haven’t made your Close to Home gift this year or you want to support one of the teams, please consider making a donation of $5 or more to Ignite. For more information and a listing of all the awards, visit: www.huskydrive.uconn.edu  and donate by visiting the Ignite crowdfunding page here. Please share with your schools/colleges, friends, etc. Let’s light this place up!

    Thank you for your support!
