  • Dr. Bidya Ranjeet Retirement 3/31/22

Dr. Bidya Ranjeet, Director of UConn’s Center for Academic Programs (CAP), is retiring on March 31, 2022, after more than 30 years of dedicated service to CAP and its students. Bidya started her career at UConn as a graduate assistant in CAP’s Student Support Services (SSS) program and went on to hold several positions within CAP, including SSS counselor, Upward Bound advisor, Upward Bound director, SSS director, and McNair Scholars director.

Bidya is a passionate advocate for advancing educational equity for students who are first-generation to college, from low-income backgrounds, and from populations underrepresented in higher education. She has spearheaded many innovative, high-impact initiatives at UConn, including creating the SSS Education Abroad Programs 20 years ago, which have provided hundreds of underserved students the life transformative experience of international education.

If you would like to contribute to the newly established Bidya Ranjeet Experiential Global Learning Fund, which supports international and domestic educational and cultural programming for CAP students, more information can be found here. Additionally, if you would like to share a memory or some words to be included in a memory book being created for Bidya, please do so here.

The CAP staff is grateful to Bidya for her tireless service, dedication, and advocacy on behalf of CAP students, and for her leadership, mentorship, and support of our own professional growth and development. We wish Bidya all the best as she embarks on new adventures.

    Sincerely,

    Center for Academic Programs
