    The University of Connecticut’s Leadership Legacy Experience is pleased to host a panel moderated by Dr. Anthony Alessi exploring the consequences of severe and repetitive brain trauma due to violent collision sports. Alessi, along with panelists Dr. Joanne Conover, Dr. Douglas Casa, and Ms. Dorothy Bedford will discuss the neurological impact brain trauma has on cognitive abilities and emotional management, and the implications these findings have on the future of sports and in our society.  Dr. Alessi is an Associate Clinical Professor of Neurology and Adjunct Professor of Kinesiology specializing in general neurology, neuromuscular diseases, EMG and sports neurology. Dr. Conover is an Associate Professor of Physiology and Neurobiology at UConn.  Dr. Casa is a Professor of Kinesiology and Chief Operating Officer of the Korey Stringer Institute at UConn. And, Dorothy Bedford is a parent and activist in the field of concussion education.  This event will be held on Wednesday, April 9th, at 5:00pm in Room 102 of Laurel Hall on the University of Connecticut, Storrs campus.

     

    Admission to this event is free.  All members of the community are welcome to attend this lecture.
