  • Enrolling Participants: Self-Help Study for Women

Title of Study: Self-Help for College Women

In this research study you will be asked to read a book about either sexuality or happiness over four consecutive weeks.

In order to participate in this study, you must:

    (1) Be a college student who identifies as a woman; (2) Be over age 18; (3) Have not read a self-help book within the past thirty (30) days; (4) Have not previously taken a college level human sexuality course or college level course in sexuality studies.

If you are eligible to participate in the study:

At the initial registration session, you will be asked to sign a written informed consent form. If you consent to participate in the study, you will be asked to take a survey lasting approximately 10-20 minutes before being given your book. This is the only in person portion of the study.

You will be asked to provide an email address for communication with the researcher.

Each week for four consecutive weeks, you will be reminded by email to read some portion of the book and will receive a survey link with 5-8 questions. At the end of the research study, we will ask you to complete a 10-20 minute survey about your sexuality and well-being.

Your participation will be kept confidential. You will receive a $25 Amazon gift card for participating after the four-week period and completion of the second survey. You will also be able to keep the book you are assigned to read.

If you complete the research study, we will invite you to complete a short (10-15 minutes) survey several weeks after the conclusion of the study, for the opportunity to be entered into a drawing for one of five (5) additional $50 Amazon gift cards.
